What is does TMJ stand for and how do I know if I have TMJ symptoms?
It is acronym for the "temporomandibular joint". There are many different symptoms of an unbalanced jaw alignment, including headaches, facial pain, neck and shoulder pain, ringing in the ears, jaw popping, and dizziness. Dr. Udouj performs a digital K7 EMG & jaw tracking scan of your head to determine how your bite, jawbone, and its associated muscles are lining up. He also uses special computerized diagnostic equipment to determine the health and comfort of your jaw muscles.

What is "smile analysis" and "smile design?"
In smile analysis, we look at all of the factors that impact final results: the shape, size, and position of your teeth; your smile line; the shape of your face; and your overall facial appearance. We use our diagnostic findings, photographs and computer images, and consider your desires and physical limitations to make sure that we're all in agreement as to the objectives, approach, and outcome.
After this analysis, Dr. Udouj will use his expertise to establish the form, position, color, and shape of your new smile. Our goal is to bring about an attractive, youthful balance to your teeth, lips, gum line, and facial structure.

How can I have attractive front teeth without wearing braces?
For slightly crooked or unevenly worn teeth, a bit of reshaping and the addition of porcelain veneers may be sufficient to give them a bright, uniform look. In other cases, it may be necessary to use "invisible" braces. We'd be happy to consult with you about a treatment plan that will accomplish your objectives.

Is there a dental treatment that will help my spouse stop snoring and get better rest?
An evaluation with Dr. Udouj can determine the cause of snoring. In some cases, a person may actually stop breathing for short periods during the night - a condition called sleep apnea. In other cases, snoring can be caused by enlarged anatomical structures within the mouth and throat. In the latter situation, we can prescribe and fit a special appliance which helps hold the mouth and throat open during relaxed sleep which prevents snoring.
